The World of Spray Roses is delighted to welcome Pien Valk and Patrick of Jasmijn Bloembinders Haarlem as our newest ambassadors.
For almost three decades, this husband-and-wife team has been delighting customers from their flower shop in the beautiful Dutch city of Haarlem. Renowned for their vibrant floral style, exceptional quality and unmistakable passion for roses, they have earned a loyal following and become respected figures within the floral industry. Their work is joyful, colourful and full of personality, making them the perfect addition to the World of Spray Roses family.
A Dream That Became Reality
Long before Jasmijn Bloembinders became a destination florist, Pien and Patrick were learning their craft together, creating products and inspiring designs every day; they quickly realised they shared the same ambition.
“We always said to each other that if we could create a flower shop like this in Haarlem, we had to go for it.”
Nearly 28 years later, that dream is still thriving. Their shop has become known for its creativity, attention to detail and the warmth that greets every customer who walks through the door.

A Love Affair with Roses
For Pien, her love of roses can be traced back to a single bouquet. “When I was 17, Patrick gave me my very first Ecuadorian roses, a beautiful mixed bouquet. I’ve never forgotten it.”
It’s a simple memory, but one that perfectly captures the timeless romance of roses. Decades later, they remain at the heart of almost everything she creates.
“Roses are beautiful in every season,” she says. “Sometimes with spring flowers, other times with berries. They always work.”Whether designing an everyday bouquet or an elaborate wedding installation, roses remain her constant source of inspiration.
Colour First, Always
Spend just a few moments looking through the work of Jasmijn Bloembinders and one thing becomes immediately clear: colour plays a leading role.
While many current trends lean towards softer palettes, Pien isn’t afraid to embrace bold combinations that instantly lift the mood. “The more colour, the better.” For her, flowers should create emotion. “When you walk down a street and see colour, you want to stop and look. Colour makes people happy.”
That philosophy shines through in every arrangement they create, whether it’s vibrant pinks paired with oranges, warm corals blended with rich reds or unexpected combinations that encourage people to pause and smile.

Being based in the Netherlands gives Pien and Patrick access to some of the world’s finest flowers. Every morning, Patrick carefully selects the freshest blooms from Aalsmeer, ensuring only the very best flowers make it into the shop.

But when asked what makes spray roses so special, Pien’s answer is beautifully simple. “Spray roses are like the glue in a bouquet.”
It’s a wonderful way to describe them. Their multiple blooms soften designs, bridge larger focal flowers and add movement, texture, and a natural garden feel that is difficult to achieve with any other flower.
Looking Ahead
As the most recent ambassadors for the World of Spray Roses, Pien and Patrick hope to inspire even more florists to embrace the beauty and versatility of spray roses.
“It’s a real honour,” says Pien. “If we can help more people fall in love with spray roses, then that’s something very special.”
Their passion for flowers remains as strong today as it was nearly three decades ago, and there’s still one adventure they hope to experience.
One day, they would love to visit the farms where these remarkable roses are grown, meeting the growers and seeing first-hand the care, innovation and dedication behind every stem. From Kenya and Colombia to Ethiopia and beyond, it’s a journey they hope is only just beginning.
